Nelson's Rose Sunday

It was a case of "roses, roses, all the way," for the huge crowd which flocked to Broadgreen for Nelson's first "Rose Sunday" - the official opening of Broadgreen. Visitors, like Pam Nicholas, were met by marching girls like Kotare's Jill and Dale Purnell (above), and presented with a rose corsage. In the fancy dress competitions we saw this fairy and her grub (Susan and Ian Hambling), right, a woodland nymph (Rosemary Murphy), centre right. and at bottom right, three prizewinners under 5, Philip Martin, Murray Ross and Kathrin Gaffa.
