Most of the 2056 rose bushes planted in the spacious grounds of Broadgreen were in full bloom when we took this panoramic picture of what should prove to be Nelson's outstanding attraction. Set off by the old Langbein homestead, a historic treasure in its own right, Broadgreen is a monument to the city councillors who foresaw its potential, to Mr and Mrs Jim Samuels who donated the roses and to the council staff who have transformed the area into the magnificent park and it is today.
