Field Day at Tapawera

A big variety of pets was entered by their youthful owners at the Tapawera District High School's, annual field day. As well, axemen, shearers, the Motueka Municipal Band and the school's gymnastic team entertained the large crowd.

Winners of the school pony event were Michael and Jan Fenemor on Trigger.

Minor placegetters in the school pony event were Kelvin Fenemor and Kerri Kissane, Jacqueline and Pauline Wadsworth, with judge Shirley Stevenson and an unknown pair, who were fourth.

Another axeman, taking it easy, is Les Gilsenan, of Spring Grove, a world champion in his own right.
