Here are a couple of "sweet" girls, Christine Cafrentz and Judy Wright, both of whom are shop assitants in Woolworths, and employed on the candy counter. Christine, who is 17½, has been with Woolworths since November. She was educated at Nelson College for Girls, and is keen on movies, old time dancing, record playing and art. Judy is 16, and has been with the firm about eight months. She comes from Christchurch and was educated at Avondale Girls' High School and shifted to Nelson only last year. She's keen on dancing, swimming and lying in the sun on the beach.

These two chaps have gone up in the world. They' re Roy Simpson and Alister Vautier, roofing and water proofing specialists with Shelter Engineering. We found them working on the new Valet building. Roy is married with five children, two of whom are married. He's lived in the province all his life. Roy gets his leisure time enjoyment from being a radio "ham" and operating a small farm at Wakefield. Alister described himself as an "immigrant" – he's originally from Auckland and Wellington. But he loves Nelson and seems likely to stay here (he's engaged to be married). He was educated at Rongotai College and is attending night classes at the technical school at the moment (business management course). Out of working hours he makes for the hills or the sea where he pursues his favourite hobbies, shooting, tramping and underwater fishing.
