The Nurses' Ball
Nelson Hospital nurses discarded their uniforms in favour of the more colourful ball gowns and had a night out at the annual nurses' ball. Twenty-two finalists were presented to Miss Rachael Simpson, New Zealand Commandant of the Voluntary Aids Division of the Red Cross. (Pix by Peter Cooper Studio).

Entertaining were the Tomcats (Ian and Lew Mills and Ron Parkin at back) who a week later won a section of the Mobil Song Quest.
