A second bulk bitumen plant is being established at Port Nelson. An oil company is erecting a tank to hold bulk bitumen brought to Nelson by tanker from Marsden Point refinery and the bitumen processing plant of Highways Construction Ltd has been shifted from its former site at Three Brothers Corner, Richmond, to this site on the reclamation. It is alongside the plant already operated by Bulk Bitumen Supplies. The installation of some of the tanks is shown at top, while above, work on the foundations for the bulk tank is completed.
