Nelson district Venturer Scouts say farewell to Selwyn Dobbinson, Venturer Scout leader, who has left for Milton. Mr Dobbinson, a veterinary surgeon, hopes to return in about a year. A presentation was made to him by Mr Doug Boyes, District Venturer Scout leader.

The 50th anniversary of the formation of the Wolf Cub movement was celebrated in Nelson with church services. More than 300 scouts and cubs attended a service at the cathedral. (Peter Cooper Studio).
