Weather Affects Skaters
Rain during Queen's Birthday weekend badly upset the Nelson Skating Club's championships at Tahunanui. Many skaters from outside the province competed, but many events had to be curtailed because of the rain.
Marcus Hansen, Michael Hobbs, Des Harvey and Reub Curtis worked hard to clear the rink of water for the carnival on Sunday, but almost in vain.

Gerry Glover and Robyn Alexander, both of Christchurch, who made a clean sweep in the long distance speed sections.
