Sir Edmund Hillary visited Nelson district last month on a lecture tour sponsored by Lions aimed at raising £6000 to finance a public health team in Sabah, formerly British North Borneo. A total of £350 was raised in Nelson city. (Peter Cooper Studio)

Mr Peter Maplesden, Conservator of Forests, Nelson, who is the New Zealand Government delegate at the World Forestry Congress in Spain. He will also see forest activities in Britain, Sweden, Yugoslavia and Russia while away.

Mrs Mary Wagner, aged 80, of Hope, (centre) with her two sisters, Mrs E. E. Lawn, Richmond, and Mrs F. Schwass, also of Richmond. In her 80 years, Mrs Wagner has never been beyond Murchison, Motueka or Picton.
