The Nelson Rugby Club, which is justifiably proud of being New Zealand's oldest Rugby club, can also be very proud of its senior members off the field. Recently about 20 of its members completely cleaned, primed and finish-painted the home of Mrs Des Hodgson, 240 St. Vincent Street. Des, senior half-back two seasons back, died ndt so long ago, This was a wonderful club effort. All the work was completed in a total of eight hours and all materials were paid for by the club. Congratulations, boys.

Having heard grumbles at the number of scratches put on cars by bikes parked on metered spaces, particularly on Friday nights, we decided to have a close look at it. At left we found scores of bikes parked on the kerbing in Trafalgar Street while below, and not 50 yards away, we found empty bike stands. Motorists say they cannot park over bike stands, yet bikes can park on spaces motorists have had to pay for and leave their trade marks on car doors and bodywork. Can anything be done about it?
