Winter Trotting Meeting

Quite often the Nelson Trotting Club can ran its winter meeting in summer conditions. To an extent, these pertained this year, but the meeting at one stage came very close to being washed out. Heavy rain fell during the week and the turn into the straight was an inland sea on the day before the meeting. However, the day, and the second day, dawned fine and but for a brief shower remained that way. The second day was beautifully fine. The big feature of the meeting was the appearance of million dollar stake earner, Cardigan Bay. He made an appearance on both days. We've devoted a full page to him elsewhere in this issue.
