Nelson Modellers' Triumph' Triumph
A group of members of the Nelson Society of Modellers all but scooped the pool at a regatta held by the Marlborough Association of Modellers at Blenheim during Queen's Birthday weekend. Collectively, the group secured 8 firsts, 6 seconds and 5 thirds -19 placings in a possible 25.
Lawrence Brewerton took the Rothman Trophy for the major speed event. His boat, and several others, are today powered by chain saw motors, a far cry from the little model aircraft engines used not that many years ago in similar craft. All craft are radio-controlled and the club's activities on the modellers' pond at Tahunanui most Saturdays will undoubtedly create a great deal of interest among the public.
