Sound Beating for Nelson Bays

The Nelson Bays senior representatives, weakened by the absence of a big section of its backline, was given a lesson in controlled Rugby by West Coast when the two teams met at Trafalgar Park. The home side led 3-0 after a first half which saw Nelson Bays losing valuable possession with ineffectual kicking. West Coast tightened up its play in the second half and in a period of 11 minutes West Coast first five-eighth K. Beams clinched the match for his side with three glorious tries.

Hesitant tackling and passing by the home side doomed its chances of recovery and West Coast ran out a very convincing winner.

West Coast wing, D. Edwards, a very powerful and purposeful runner, was far too strong for his opposite number, G. Ross.

ABOVE-M. MeRae, West Coast lock, had a lineout battle with Nelson Bays' Terry Julian. Another West Coast back to play well was second five-eighth D. Beardsley (Below Left). West Coast half-back, M. Mc-Quillan, had a good day and, in spite of being caught here (BELOW) by M. Neale, managed to get a reverse pass away.
