The Cheapest Car in Town
Kay Griffith, of Brightwater, featured in last month's "Photo News" during the stock car racing at Appleby. We'll be surprised, however, if she takes her new car in such races, even if it did only cost her $1. Kay, of course, was the only one of thousands to correctly guess the distance a Mini would travel on two gallons of gas. The distance was 99 miles and 19 yards. The Plunket Society, which organised this fund-raising venture, put a lot of time and effort into it, but unfortunately this year profits were not nearly as high as anticipated. A procession to Trafalgar Park, where the Mini travelled its last few miles on the cycling track, added interest to the contest.
