Eighty-Four Forms 1 and 2 pupils of St. Joseph's Convent, Nelson, about set to join buses to take them for a weekend nature study course at Po-Hara Beach, at the end of last month. In charge of this tremendous family was the Rev. Father P. Cahill (ringed). Some of the younger fry also got in on the picture.

Mr Edgar Pike, a hair stylist at the Maree Salon, Bridge Street, went to California on a special course recently, and returned with the handsome trophy he's holding-first prize for permanent waving in a contest sponsored by the Californian Institute of Hair Styling. He won the award in the face of strong opposition from 59 other contestants. He was the only contestant from New Zealand. He is also holding another trophy, awarded for his contribution towards American hair fashions.

A copy of the colours of the now defunct Nelson-Marlborough and West Coast Regiment was given to the Mayor, Mr Horne, to hang in the Council Chambers, by the Canterbury-Nelson-Marlborough-West Coast Battalion, when the battalion received the Freedom of the City last month.
