Mock Mayoral Candidates

To stimulate interest in the Stoke Spree to be held by Stoke Jaycees on New Year's Eve, the chapter has organised a mock Mayoral election. The funds derived from the Spree and the "Mayoral" contest are to be devoted to the proposed Stoke swimming pool complex. Four candidates were immediately forthcoming, but the chapter is hoping that other organisations will enter candidates (at the time of going to press there was one other very likely candidate). All kinds of contests have been organised to highlight the candidates' efforts and the final result will be declared on the night of the Spree. The four candidates here are Shirley Allan (Stoke businessmen), top left, Alex Leckie (Turf Hotel), above, Brian Daly (Stoke Plunket Society), below left, and Jack Cameron (Stoke Tennis Club), below.
