Carving At Spring Grove

There's a dedicated group of adults in the Spring Grove area who spurn the inducements of the fire and tele in favour of a chance to put their hands to work. Recently this group, under the guidance of Cliff Whiting of the arts and crafts division of the Education Department, wielded mallet and chisel to very good effect and produced some wonderful 'Maori carvings. We got these pictures during a class at the school.
