The recent heavy snowfalls on the high country around Nelson, recalled for Mrs I. Thomas a flight she made from Nelson over the snow-covered foothills to the Tasman range after the very heavy snowfalls of 1939. This picture was taken by Mrs Rogers as the aircraft flew over the Motueka Valley area.

Finishing touches were put to two Swedish Snow Trac vehicles, acquired for snow country work, by staff of the New Zealand Electricity Department's mechanical branch in Nelson, before the vehicles were commissioned. Both are to be located in Blenheim for departmental.use in the Molesworth, Rainbow River and Hanmer areas. Pictured with them are Gerard McCrenor, Ted Fitzsimmons (behind the wheel) and Ray Lohman. At right, the new vehicles get their new departmental symbols. No comment!
