When Winter Comes...

Winter in Nelson arrived about the middle of last month in the form of some falls of snow on the mountains, foothills and even the hills above Nelson city. The snow didn't last long, but its effects did. Heavy frosts, up to 15 degrees (and heavier in some areas), were experienced almost every day, but these were always followed by sunny weather. During one heavy frost, spray from the Moller Fountain turned to ice on trees around the fountain, giving- passers-by a spectacular display. Here, Beverley Palmer takes a closer look at mother nature's work.
