New Air Terminal Building Opened

The new air terminal building at the Gisborne Aerodrome was officially opened by the Minister in charge of Civil Aviation, Mr J. K. McAlpine, at a ceremony at the airport on a recent Saturday afternoon.

Watchd by a crowd of 2500 people, who were also treated to a very entertaining air pageant held to mark the occasion (see page 40)Mr McAlpine was handed a key by the architect, Mr J. C. Corson, with which he unlocked the door, and formally declared the building open.

The modern terminal building has been a long awaited necessity for the airport, and now supplies travellers with an up-to-date cafeteria, counter service, and freight depot.
