Roving Camera

Less than five months after the devastating fire which wiped out two-thirds of its factory, Columbine Hosiery Ltd, were back in production again...but only on a small scale.

The first six new seam-free machines, pictured in operation above, arrived from England recently and were installed. They were followed by another 29 machines, some of which are pictured below being unloaded in their crates into the reconstructed factory building.

The Gisborne City Council's new municipal bus chassis, which arrived here last month (see August Photo News), is now well on the way to taking the road with its new locally-constructed body. The partially completed bus is pictured below in McCullough's Motor Body Builders' workshop.
