They Won The Golden Fleeco

The team from Gisborne, competing in the North Island finals at Masterton early this month, won the Golden Fleeco event and a trip to Australia. They scored 79.504 points and took 11min 59.8sec to shear and handle the 10 fleeces from the five sheep shorn by each of the two shearers in the team. Among their trophies was the Lister Cup and a silver tankard each. This picture shows Graham Baty, one of the shearers in the team, in action. The other shearer was G. Symon, and the wool handlers were G. Boyd and Mrs Edwards.
