Dusty Dare Devils

The Gisborne Motor Cycle and Midget Car Club's January meeting at their showgrounds circuit attracted many outside competitors, and a large crowd, to make it an unqualified success. The prevailing brilliant weather resulted in a hard, dry track, and some fast races were seen, but at times hazardous dust churned up by the sliding midgets made driving difficult.

Motorcycle racing took on a new interest with the arrival of two outside riders who provided some keen competition in their events.

The spectators were kept on their toes by the midget cars as they roared round the course, sliding on the corners and leaving billowing clouds of dust in their wake.

Although the dusty conditions caused several minor mishaps there were no serious accidents.
