Carnival At Manutuke

Unfortunate weather conditions during the afternoon no doubt restricted the attendance of the public at the Anniversary Day Carnival held at Manutuke, but for all that there was a large attendance, and the funds of the Memorial Hall Committee were appropriately increased as a result.

For many people (including quite a number from Manutuke itself) the visit to the picturesque Manutuke Domain was an event in itself. With its surround of fine trees of all kinds, the domain presented an attractive sight and proved an ideal place for the carnival.

An energetic committee, aided by the Gisborne PRO, Mr David Clarke, had made most extensive and thorough arrangements for the carnival, with a number of stalls and amusement devices, and an entertaining programme which Included Car Club events, athletics, a wheelbarrow race, wood chopping, etc. The day started with a procession from the store.
