River Swimming Race

The Gisborne Swimming Club's half-mile swimming race was held in the Taruheru River on a recent Saturday afternoon. The winner, Doug Bruce, swam strongly from a back mark to beat Vivien Swindell narrowly in an exciting finish, and Janie Taiapa was third. The Forster Cup for which the big field of swimmers was competing was later presented.
