Three members of the Wairoa Post and Telegraph Department, each with 40 years' service, retired recently. They were Messrs Jack Cook, Fred Scherp, and Pat Helean. Presentations were made on behalf of the staff by the postmaster, Mr Holford. Also present were Mr W. N. Taylor, chief postmaster, Napier, and Mr Gilchrist, divisional engineer. Mr Helean receiving his presentation from Mr Holford. At left in the picture are Messrs Jim Healey and Bill Mahon.

Mr and Mrs J. H. Worsfold, Centennial Crescent, are seen here in a picture taken at a function to mark Mr Worsfold's retirement from the Ministry of Works after 48 years' Government service. In the lower picture Mr H. B. Goodman, resident engineer at Gisborne, is seen congratulating Mr Worsfold after presenting him with a cheque. In the background are Messrs G. Odams and A. M. O'Connell (Gisborne) and Mr D. White (assistant District Commissioner of Works, Napier).

Picture of Garry Schroder, eldest son of Mr and Mrs F. J. Schroder, Makarori Beach, was taken at his 21st birthday party, Garry's car was out of action at the time, so the wags gave him this one and made him drive it round the hall.
