This picture serves to illustrate that the city water pipeline to Waingake was only just renewed in time to avoid a lot of trouble. Almost at the moment when the top section across the bridge near Waingake School was to be cut in, the old pipe burst its seams. Here, for Trevor White's camera, Jack Wykes "washes his hands" in the "fountain".

Bob Hepburn photographed this seldom-seen waterfall at the northern end of the Tikiwhata tunnel on the Coast railway. It is seldom seen because it is in view for only a moment as the train is passing between two tunnels. This suggests a game of "spot the waterfall" for jaded travellers. It is on the inland side of the line.

Gordon Goodley sends in these three snaps of a very clever dog he used to own, called "Teddy". We would say Teddy was an all-round sport from the look of these pictures.
