There ware many amateur gun crews on the job when the Hmnzs Kaniere was thrown open to the public during her Gisborne visit. These boys had a lot of fun swinging the gun about and levelling it at imaginary targets.

For Easter, Gisborne was lucky enough to pluck four reasonably fine and sunny days out of weeks of murky weather. At the beach, half-covered in driftwood from a flood, a few bathers braved the cool waters. Others sat in the sun and watched the yachts go by.
