Top Job

Putting a 40ft addition on to the Cook Hospital boiler-house chimney was one of the more difficult jobs undertaken in the district last month.

Because of the smoke nuisance in the Nurses' Home, it was decided that the existing 60ft chimney should be raised another 40ft. Krebs of Gisborne fabricated the 2 ½ ton, 3ft 9in diameter addition and Sigley&Co., Auckland, contracted to place it in position.
