Autumn Fashion Show

"Seventeen's" Easter Parade of autumn and winter fashions, sponsored by the Intermediate Group of the Victoria League, attracted a large feminine audience to the War Memorial Hall last week.

The show, which was compered by Mrs Pat Stewart, featured some of Sylvia Lane's high fashion creations, often modelled by the designer herself.

"What's the world coming to?" was the question posed by models in skin-tight waist-to-toe woollen tights in vivid colours. These are said to be all the rage this year, with manufacturers unable to keep up with the demand. In them, the girls looked like backstage ballet dancers (or London dandies of 1800). OK for those with good gams, but for the rest.... give us those skirts!
