The Lions Relax at Gisborne

Real lions, as everybody knows, hunt only by night, which could lead some observers of the British Isles forwards to read parables into the context between these pictures and the form so far shown by the visitors on the football field. But then, even test football is still only a game, and the Lions have shown that they are players both on and off the field. During their stay in Gisborne they made many friends, saw some things they had never seen before, played a good game, and had a good time.

Reg Marques, the 6ft 5in second-row forward, has impressive techniques in the line-outs, and by the look of this picture is even more outstanding as an entertainer.

Poi dance didn't gain full marques for Reg, but it convulsed Tony O'Reilly, Ron Dawson, Ken Scotland, Rhys Williams, and Mrs Val Halstead.
