The whaleboat at the Museum is now in process of having a special and permanent home built for it on the space in front of the museum building in Stout Street.

Mrs Hodgson, Wainui Beach, long and affectionately known in connection with the store there, and her husband, were the guests of honour at a function held at Wainui recently in honour of her retirement. The property has been purchased by Mr Bill Jolly, Gisborne, who will operate a modern service station on the site.

The S. S. Tainui tied up at the wharf in Gisborne Harbour. Trouble developed with one of the ship's plates, and the fire brigade was called to help with pumping, after which repairs were made and the vessel was able to sail for more permanent repair in dry dock.
