There was much activity in Peel Street last week among the controversial trees between Gladstone Road and Childers Road. Hopeful shopkeepers nearby thought perhaps the trees were coming out at last, but no, bulldozers, graders, trucks, picks and men were assembled to prepare the surroundings for sealing. (One onlooker declared there was only one good tree thereabouts, of the species Lava, nearer the main street).
