Novelty for Gisborne

A new sight on Waikanae Beach this month was this "Land Yacht", or "Sand Yacht" cruising up and down the beach, propelled by a spanking sou'wester. The yacht was built by Keith Redstone and boys of the Takitimu Sea Scouts from plans in a Popular Mechanies book.

With a good wind, it cruised easily at about 20 miles per hour.
