One of nature's freaks is this lilium head grown by Mrs Hughes of Wainui Road. Instead of the usual half dozen to a dozen blooms at the end of a round stalk, this one has 109 blooms and a wide, flat stalk.

Seen on the road to Te Puia, this hungry calf is pirating a meal from a generous mare, and the little colt doesn't seem to mind.

The lighthouse with no light--a picture taken recently of the lighthouse on Tuahine Point, near Wainui Beach. Warning light for mariners is now an electric one high on the hill-top.

The City Council Chambers are a sight these days with the new rose gardens in full bloom—Just another of those pictures which need colour to do it full justice.

These three Gisborne girls—Mary and Betty Lister and Jo Ivess—had a month away in Australia this summer, attending the International Girl Guide Camp near Melbourne. They managed a week of sight-seeing in Sydney.
