Bowlers on the Green

Bowling continues to be the most popular of all summer pastimes in Gisborne. The fascination of a game which demands high standards of skill and judgment without over-taxing physical powers, which brings gregarious human beings together in pleasant rivalry amid pleasant surroundings, and which gains impetus and interest from numerous club, inter-club, and district contests, will probably ensure that there will always be bowlers aplenty to try their skill on the greens. The pictures on these pages show play in progress during the Gisborne Bowling Club's annual tournament.

Inset is the Burton Cup, for which teams will compete at Easter. This is the Jubilee year for Burton Cup play, which will give the contest added interest.
