Wedding Bells for a Piper

The skirl of the bagpipes greeted the happy couple when they reached the church door after the ceremony at St.Andrew's Church, when Janice Beverly, daughter of Mr and Mrs R. E. Young, Repongaere, Patutahi, was married to Noelie Herbert, son of the late Mr an Mrs W. J. White, Makaraka. And it wasn't the customary lone piper, but the full Highland Pipe Band, for the bridegroom was one of its own.

Seen on the church steps behind a barrage of pipes, are the bride and groom with their attendants. The best man was Ernest White, assisted by Colin Young and George Markie. The bridesmaids were Coralyn Young (chief) and Melva and Valerie White. Gillian Reardon was the flowergirl. The couple's future home will be in Gisborne.

The bridal procession was piped through the streets to the reception.
