First Representative Match

The annual Queen's Birthday representative Rugby match between Poverty Bay and East Coast ended this year in a win for East Coast by 19 points to 12. Coast scored four tries, while the Bay's 12 points all came from penalties early in the game.

Poverty Bay failed to show the form which last season's concluding games suggested, and the backs in particular had a poor day.
