The first annual conference of the East Coast branch of the New Zealand Institute of Engineers was held recently in Gisborne. About 30 members of the profession visited Gisborne for the occasion. Pictures above and at left were taken at the conference dinner at the Gisborne Hotel, show some of the delegates and their wives enjoying the meal.

Macrae baths are this year filled with fresh water for the first time, in place of salt water. Pictures show children and young women enjoying a dip. and they're not much concerned what kind of water it is as long as it's cool.
