Maori Queen Crowned

The queen of the carnival organised by the Turanga pastorate of the diocese of Waiapu was crowned recently in a colourful ceremony held at Poho–o–rawiri. The carnival raised £1500.

The queen was Miss Akenehi Te Hau, daughter of Mr and Mrs Kahutia Te Hau (Ngai–Taoene parish). Her princesses were Miss Elizabeth Maynard (Manutuke) and Miss Maata Kemp (Muriwai–Waituhu).
