They Call It A Housemobile

This is without doubt the largest motor caravan even seen is Gisborne. It is 25ft 6in long, 7ft 11in wide, and 10ft 9in high. The inside stud is 7ft. It is in effect a four-roomed miniature house built on to a 1947 Bedford bus chassis.
The owners, are Mr and Mrs J. G. Moffet, now resident in what they call their Housemobile on a Townley Street site. Mr Moffet is now working in Gisborne.

In the Housemobile there is a sizeable living room, a kitchenette, a bed alcove over the driver's compartment, and there are two single beds available if required in the driving compartment.

Mr Moffet drove his Housemobile up from Palmerston North, where he built it. It came up the Morere Hill in second gear.
