Queen's Birthday Rugby

The first representative Rugby game of the season, played at Rugby Park on Queen's Birthday, was the 50th contest between East Coast and Poverty Bay. The home team ran out winners by 23 points to six.

While the Bay side's display had its poorer moments, the team looked to have a good potential, and should shape up well before the season is over.
