Four ships in the harbour basin at one time is a rare sight at Gisborne. On Queen's Birthday weekend, the Turihaua, Kanna, and Kopara were all berthed in the basin, and the Pateke was tied up in the stream. Photograph at left was taken as the Pateke came into the basin to turn. There was such a spate of cargo unloaded all at once that the wharf sheds became congested.
