It'S An Old Dutch Custom

Dutch, wedding customs are apparently much different from those of New Zealanders. It is our custom for the bridegroom not to see the bride on the wedding day until she comes up the aisle. But when Peter John Matthyssen wed Adriana Maria Bernarda Christina Wouters at St. Mary's Church recently, he and the best man, Mr B. Wouters, his brother, brought the bride and her maid, Miss Shirley Mosen, of Whakatane, to the church, and walked up the aisle with them.

In these pictures the bridegroom and best man are seen arriving at the house, carrying the bouquets, leaving the house, arriving at the church, at the altar, and after the ceremony.
