Rowing Merger

The district's two roving club's –– the Poverty Bay and the Gisborne –– are pooling their resources in a bid to breathe new life into the sport.

Steady silting up of the Taruheru River over the years has become a severe handicap to the clubs. A new site on the eastern bank of the Turanganui (right)will enable rowers to practice their sport in all tides. Plans for a joint clubhouse have yet to be drawn.
