Mr Archie Blackburn, Score Road, who has been elected to the Dominion executive of the Boy Scouts Association. It is the first time that this district has had N.Z. representation. Mr Blackburn first joined the movement in 1909, was appointed district commissioner in 1944.

Miss Robin Newick, a former dux of Gisborne High School, is at present studying at the University of Utah under a Fulbright scholarship. She is a physical education teacher at Papanui High School, Christchurch. Her father was first assistant at Gisborne Intermediate School.

Mrs James Atkins, snr., of Patutahi, celebrated her 92nd birthday recently. She is pictured here with her family: Bella ( Mrs Ladd), Bill, Lizzie (Mrs Ritchie), James, Mary (Mrs Bayram), Robert, & Maggie (Mrs C. Kirk).
In addition to her seven children, Mrs Atkins has 24 grandchildren and 36 great grand-children.

Sergeant F. McKenna, of Lower Hutt, who has been transferred to the Gisborne police station.
Keenly interested in sport, Sergeant McKenna was a physical training instructor in the Royal New Zealand Air Force during the war years, and held the force's middleweight boxing title.
His brother, Johnny McKenna, was a wellknown professional who fought in Britain and the United States.

Mr L. Balfour, Harris Street, who has retired as Gisborne manager of Murray, Roberts & Co. He has served the firm for 41 years; became manager in 1950.
