Rain or Shine...
Bowlers Start Season

Showers came and went on the afternoon when Gisborne bowlers opened their 1956-57 season, but that didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the ever-growing army of enthusiasts.

Poverty Bay and East Coast Centre president Erie Halstead did the rounds of all four clubs, accompanied by vice-president Don Cameron and N.Z. Council delegate Les Kendrew.

The appearance of greens, grounds, and buildings at all local rinks reflected the growth of clubs and the pride of members in them.

Notable achievements included the preparation and opening of the second green at the R.S.A. Club, and the fact that the P.B. Club's handsome pavilion, built by members, is now debt-free.

By the time Mr Halstead had done the rounds and reached his home green at Kahutia, sun had broken through the clouds and brightened prospects for the coming season.
