Water Frolics

Water polo? Spectators at the Childers Road Reserve the other day were beginning to wonder, as hockey players of Poverty Bay and New South Wales splashed their way round the field in search of the ball.

Heavy rain left slippery pools of water on the sodden ground and hockey sticks sent up showers of spray.

Said one N.S.W. man: "I've never seen anything like it." Neither had the local players.

New South Wales opened with the tide and won the game, five goals to nil.
