Fashions For 1000 Women

Gisborne women's interest in fashion is evident to any stroller in the city's streets. Visitors—especially male visitors—often find as much to interest them in Gladstone Road as on Kaiti Hill, while their wives are impressed with the number and variety of fashion shops, large and small. It all adds up to a reputation which Gisborne holds for feminine smartness.

Fashion shows, staged by city stores and frock shops, have become a major preoccupation with hundreds of Gisborne women, are invariably packed to the doors. When these photographs were taken recently in Adairs' showroom, more than a thousand women were present to eye, perhaps to try, and possibly to buy, the latest in spring wear for the new season.
