Miss Miller was a Poverty Bay representative player and captained pre-war teams.

Mr Ansell has been a referee and coach. He had five daughters all playing in one team. Particularly interested in encouraging sport amongst the young, he has given goal-posts to several schools.

Mr C. O. Hansen, Harris Street, who has been re-elected honorary auditor of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association for the 53rd consecutive year. He has held that post with the Poverty Bay Rugby Union for the same period, and is a life member of the cricket assocation, Rugby Union, P.B. Golf Club, Gisborne Rowing Club, and the Horticultural Society.

Mr F. J. Jones, Kahutia Street, newly elected president of the Gisborne-East Coast Bowling Umpires' Association.

Brian Fitzpatrick, 1958 All Black, who returned to big football with marked success in the Varsity-Springbok game. A former Gisborne man, Brian is employed in Auckland by an oil company.

Flying Officer Donald Reeves, son of Mr and Mrs S. D. Reeves, Mokairau Station, who has been home on leave from photo reconnaissance duties in the Middle East.
He is believed to be the first New Zealander to be ejected from a jet fighter. He left a crippled Meteor near Cyprus after falling 15,000ft in the plane.

Mr G. Ansell and Miss C. Miller, who have been presented with life membership badges of the Poverty Bay Basketball Association. Both were foundation members of the association.
